• Castle talks - European crises and border regions

The aim of the Jean Monnet project “European crises and border regions” is to analyse the consequences of the four major European crises and its impact on cross-border regions in Europe and discuss their potential management or resolution. Piloted by Birte Wassenberg, professor of contemporary history at the Institute for political sciences (IEP) in Strasbourg, this project examines the resistance to European integration and the problem of persisting borders in the cross-border territories of the European Union. A cycle of four conferences addresses one European crisis each: The Identity crisis of Europe (euroscepticism in border regions), the Schengen crisis, migration crisis and the resentment crisis. During the conferences researchers from different disciplines, postgraduates, European and international students as well as actors of cross-border cooperation and representatives of different European organisations come together for training-research workshops and discussion groups in order to debate possible bottom-up solutions for these crises.
