• About the Toolkit for Inter-Cultural / Cross-Border Project Management

    The Professionalizing Actors of Transfrontier Cooperation – Transfrontier Euro-Institut Network (PAT-TEIN) project was launched by eight TEIN partners from five border regions in 2012.

    The project received LEONARDO funding to transfer, merge and adapt pedagogical tools developed at the French-German border resulting in four regional-specific toolkits for cross-border intercultural project management.

    Although generally project management consists in the application of know-how, skills and techniques to meet the requirements and expectations of the project participants, with respect to the activities implemented in borderlands these competencies are not sufficient in order to effectively plan and implement such enterprises. Apart from the basic skills in project management, the use of inter-cultural management principles is also essential, i.e. the type of management in which people from various cultures understand one another in the same manner.

  • Toolkit: The Common Parts

    The “Common” version of the Inter-cultural/Cross-Border Project Management Toolkit draws together the common skills needed and issues faced by those involved in the management of cross-border projects. It also forms the core of the Toolkits developed in the partner border regions using this common version, and to which further material has been added. Anyone about to get involved, or already involved, on the frequently challenging journey of cross-border project management in the European context will find this Toolkit useful for their own cross-border territory.

    How to use the Toolkit

    The PAT-TEIN Toolkit for Inter-Cultural/Cross-Border Project Management is structured into six modules, each of which deals with an aspect of the lifecycle of the implementation of a cross-border project:

    The Toolkit for Inter-Cultural/Cross-Border Project Management is complemented by the Impact Assessment Toolkit for Cross-Border Cooperation developed by the Centre for Cross Border Studies and the Euro Institut, and users would benefit from familiarising themselves with both.
