TEIN General Assembly 2026
On the 5th of October 2026, TEIN members met for the network’s general assembly, which took place in Mons, Belgium this year.
TEIN brings together universities, research institutes, and training organisations to strengthen cross-border cooperation capacities across Europe through research and training.
The assembly provided an opportunity for members to discuss their current and future cross-border projects, joint research, and training activities, as well as the future development of the network. The agenda included, among others, the BARI Horizon Europe project, Jean Monnet cooperation activities, the GRENZCAP and PasserelleAdminGR projects, and the continuation of TEIN’s joint online training sessions. Particular attention was also given to cooperation between TEIN and the ABCD Journal, whose first major result was the thematic issue compiling papers from the 2025 TEIN Annual Conference. TEIN members also had the chance to engage in a strategic exchange with Nathalie Verschelde of the European Commission’s DG REGIO, providing feedback on their practical experiences working in border regions.
TEIN is pleased to officially welcome a new member: the Technical University of Liberec, represented by Prof. Hynek Böhm. The university will contribute its expertise in Central European border regions, its experience in applied research on cross-border barriers and its capacity to educate professionals in public administration and regional development.
The agenda included an exchange with Hainaut Development, a regional economic development institution which is involved in several Interreg projects.
