• New member for the TEIN network! A look back at the 2023 General Assembly

Every year, the TEIN members come together for the network’s general assembly. On the 6th of September, this year’s general assembly took place at the European University Viadrina on the German-Polish border in the framework of the international conference „Contesting 21st Century B/Orders“, organised by the Viadrina Center B/ORDERS IN MOTION, in cooperation with TEIN and “Borders in Globalization“– 21st Century borders (BIG).

The members, both present on site and connected online, presented relevant ongoing or recently completed projects in the respective border regions, exchanged views on current challenges and discussed future project ideas. An example is the EU-funded Jean-Monnet-Network FRONTEM (Frontières en mouvement: quels modèles pour l’UE?), which just finished a few weeks ago and in which several TEIN partners participated. Over the past years, the partners have exchanged knowledge and practices on the management and perception of five different European borders. This has resulted in, among other things, a platform on border perception or a toolkit providing an overview of the five border regions with border-specific issues, practices and challenges.

The TEIN network is particularly pleased to welcome a new member: the Ukrainian Research Institute of European Territorial Cooperation of Uzhhorod National University on the Slovak-Ukrainian border. TEIN is looking forward to the future cooperation!

Many thanks to the European University Viadrina for hosting this year’s general assembly and of course to all members of the network for the successful cooperation!
