The Viadrina Center B/ORDERS IN MOTION’s new publication (in German) provides an overview of the state and prospects of cross-border public services in European functional areas. Several TEIN partners and other authors have contributed to this collective publication – the Euro-Institut wrote the chapter on cross-border education in the Franco-German part of the Upper Rhine.

Cross-border connections are becoming closer and more intensive in the European Union. The nationally organised and oriented services of general interest are reaching their limits. Cross-border services of general interest are increasingly being used to improve the provision of public services to the population in cross-border areas. In a 360-degree perspective, fire protection, emergency services, local public transport and healthcare, for example, are organised on a cross-border basis. A new publication produced at the Viadrina Centre B/ORDERS IN MOTION offers an up-to-date overview of the current status and prospects of cross-border services of general interest in European interdependent areas. Editors and participating authors will present findings and results focussing on the Polish-German border region.
