Registration is now open for BIG Summer Institutes 2026

The Borders in Globalization Lab (BIG_Lab) is an international policy and research network based at the University of Victoria, Canada.

Online registration is now open for all 8 intensive courses. The BIG Summer Institute program is designed for professionals who manage the complexities of borders today, including migration, trade flows, technology, regulation, collaboration and security.

You can register for a single course as a standalone professional development experience, or stack multiple institutes to work toward one of three university-accredited micro-credential streams:

1. Borders and Cross-Border Law
2. Trade and Customs
3. (Im)migration and Mobility.

The Summer Institutes are expert-led, practitioner-oriented professional development programs focused on contemporary border and cross-border governance.

They are designed for:
• Government and public sector professionals
• Policymakers and regulatory practitioners
• Professionals working in border management, migration, trade, security, and cross-border governance
• Researchers and advanced scholars working at the policy-research interface
